$1,120 Cost of Living Relief Coming This June – Are You on the List?

The Australian Government has officially announced a one-off $1,120 Centrelink Cost of Living Payment to be given in June 2025. Giving some breathing space for financial pressure, this support package goes further to check on low and fixed income families whose expenses are getting higher.

It is the Centrelink cost-of-living support package in the federal budget, focusing their target group on individuals who depend primarily on Centrelink payments for their income.

Who Is Eligible for the June 2025 Payment

The $1,120 payment covers a wide array of Centrelink recipients, including those on the Age Pension, Disability Support Pension, JobSeeker Payment, Youth Allowance, Parenting Payment, and Carer Payment.

To qualify, you would have had to be in receipt of one of the qualifying payments or be in possession of a valid concession card during the relevant qualification period in May 2025. Therefore, it is understood there will be no separate application process, with payments being made automatically to all who meet the criteria.

When Payments Will Be Made

The Cost of Living Payment will begin to be deposited from the second week of June in 2025. Most recipients in need should expect to see the money in their bank accounts within (or a little before or after) a fortnight, that is, between June 10 and June 21 depending on their usual Centrelink payments schedule. Centrelink has advised recipients to double-check so that their bank and contact details are up to date on their myGov account to avert any delays.

Why This Payment Matters in 2025

With inflation still taking its toll on prices for essential goods and services, this payment goes toward an immediate financial cushion helping millions of Australians. The government acknowledges that many households are grappling with rising costs of rent, utilities, and grocery bills, and this timely injection of $1,120 provides support that will not impact their ongoing eligibility for other regular payments.
